oh, the horror

24 Dec

I watched three horror/thriller films today, here’s my little feedback (:

Started with ‘Paranormal Activity’, they call that a horror? It wasn’t that scary, maybe if you watch it on the big screen, but no, it wasn’t that great. Though I’m wondering if this really happened (of course they replaced the real tape with what you get to see). That would be creepy… It kinda reminded me of Drag Me To Hell. And is The Exorcist really that creepy/scary/gross/ewww? I just realized, I haven’t seen the ‘good’ horrors. You know, The Exorcist, The Ring etc. Should I be glad or have a sorry ass?

Next was ‘Orphan’. That was good, I’d give it my Woot Woot (: Haven’t seen such plots, so thumbs up to originality, not many films are so original anymore. I felt so bad for Max, and at the same time, I felt a pity for Esther. That was, until I found out that she wasn’t the little girl we thought she was…

And the last one, which I just finished watching, ‘The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning’. Originality? Thumbs down. Oh, the horror? Yes. There was blood and a pretty shifted family. Though the whole film was a bit predictable, you know? What I was wondering about in the end… How come everyone died? Then I realized – again – it was called blahblah: The Beginning, so it actually makes sense(?)

review: The Final Riot! by Paramore

17 Oct

Hey,

First review up! And yes, I promised a Brand New Eyes review, but that’s still a draft. So be patient with me, I’m not such a deadliner (haha, very funny…) but I’m on my way.
I’ve finally watched The Final Riot! I didn’t have time to, but since it’s vacation… And I’m going to keep it short, because it’s just, wow…

The Final Riot! by Paramore
Release date: November 24, 2008
Genre: Alternative rock
Length: 66:36
Label: Fueled by Ramen

Paramore - The Final Riot!

The DVD contains of course, The Final Riot! Tour recorded in Chigaco and ‘behind-the-scenes’ footage. You know, they talk about their music, fans, life in a bus and other personal stuff. You also get to see like the random stuff, it cracked me up at times, and yeah, it’s great backstage footage/documentary.

The concert… it was just, WOW. They throw so much energy in it, and I want to go to a Paramore concert so badly. It’s really worth going. And it’s not all rocking out on stage, which they do pretty well (I was headbanging with them xD), there are also slow songs and Hayley sings so amazing. I also love the intro (of Born For This and also Let The Flames Begin). It just sounds right, you know. For Hallelujah, Hayley sings an excerpt (can I call it like that?) of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah. It’s really nice. Oh, and of course My Heart. It was beautiful, you could tell she was singing with her heart. I’m talking a lot about Hayley now, but of course, Zac, Josh, Taylor and Jeremy rocked so hard. They truly are the best band out there.

No, I still haven’t reviewed Brand New Eyes and All We Know Is Falling. Brand New Eyes is playing (constantly) in the background, and it sounds great, but I haven’t got time to review it seriously. I can put up a old review I made for The Fame by Lady GaGa, but that’s for a Dutch site, so I’d have to translate that first (which I, of course, didn’t have time for, otherwise, I would’ve reviewed BNE or AWKIF).
So reviews are coming, I promise! And I’m also categorizing this whole blog happening. I hate the word ‘uncategorized’, hehe.
I have a hectic school life, it’s all about getting into Oxford, Cambridge or an American university. Otherwise it’s going to be Leiden, and I have to study for that. The more chance I’ll get in getting in…
I’m learning Latin now, so toodles!

xoxo
